It was Marco Salvi’s Swan 45 Vertigo, together with Telefonica Bribon (TP 52) and Nerone (Farr 40) that took home the prestigious title of World Offshore Team Racing Champions at the conclusion of the Sardinia Rolex Cup earlier today in Porto Cervo.
Having raced together in previous editions of this challenging event, Owner and helmsman Marco Salvi and Tactician Francesco Bruni were no strangers to this event.
Racing among the Swan 45s was particularly close, with only 9 points between the leader of fleet and fifth placed Swan 45 Murka.
Salsi’s DSK-Comifin, competed together with Vincenzo Onorato’s Mascalzone Latino and Audi Q8’s TP52 to form Team Italy, finishing in second place with 27 points.
The German team onboard Hendrik Brandis’ Swan 45 Earlybird also fought hard all week with 25 points among the Swan 45s, to secure third place overall for Team Germany.
Cirillo’s Swan 45 Fantastikinaa was consist throughout the event and together with Team Southern Europe finished fourth overall.
The next event on the Swan 45 calendar is the Copa del Rey in Palma from 27 July – 2 August. There will be 16 Swan 45s competing in Palma, making the Class the second largest one design fleet in this popular event.
